About Us

Eden’s Heart Collective is formed around three main convictions.  First, we believe that every single human being is born to be creative.  We each have a divine vocation to express that creativity, whatever forms it takes, for the beauty and betterment of the world.  At its core, creativity is a spiritual path, a journey of never-ending growth toward fully realizing our image and likeness of the Creator.

Second, Eden’s Heart Collective rests on a counter-cultural way of thinking about family and economy.  We Kramers have always been a close family, but now that all of us are adults, we feel the cultural and economic forces that would pull us apart from each other.  We want to resist these forces, while still differentiating in healthy ways.  For us, that takes the form of a commitment to a multi-generational household economy and a family-owned business.  We think that in a society becoming more and more atomized, polarized, and lonely, we can begin to rebuild community, starting with the family.

Finally, having worked with men and women monastics for decades, we think that much of monastic life can be translated into family life and work.  From the Benedictine values of work, prayer, and hospitality, to the Franciscan love of God as found in the natural world, we bring a contemplative spirit to our common life and work.  We truly believe that God – by whatever name – can be found in all things, and that we seek and find God better, together.
