The Zen simplicity of this design make it one of my favorite styles. The two contrasting tones of the heartwood and sapwood represent for me the ability - and the necessity - for darkness and light to coexist. If this can happen in wood, I think it can happen in our own souls and in our bitterly divided communities: reconciling and integrating opposites into a whole that is far greater and more interesting than either part.
These earrings are made from maple sourced from our property. They are shaped, sanded, and assembled all by hand, with a hand-rubbed, non-toxic walnut oil finish and hypoallergenic fishhook hardware.
