Small Red Oak Bowl with Purpleheart Accent

This bowl is made of quartersawn, kiln-dried red oak that I harvested and milled myself.  It features a centerpiece of purpleheart.  Small pinholes from insects (long gone after kiln drying, don't worry) have been filled and add character to the bowl.

This is a small bowl, measuring 6 1/2" across and 2 1/4" high.  It is finished with all-natural, non-toxic, non-allergenic, food-safe walnut oil.  If used as food serving bowl, it should be hand washed, and if washed repeatedly, it will eventually require a renewed application of finish - walnut oil or mineral oil, just like you would for a cutting board.
