Large Sweet Gum Bowl with Padauk Accent

This bowl is made of sweet gum, also called satin walnut, which I harvested locally and milled into lumber.  It has tightly interlocked grain, which creates gorgeous patterns when turned into a bowl.  The center accent of the bowl is of padauk.  

This is a large bowl, measuring 10 1/4" across and 4" high.  It is finished with all-natural, non-toxic, non-allergenic, food-safe walnut oil.  If used as food serving bowl, it should be hand washed, and if washed repeatedly, it will eventually require a renewed application of finish - walnut oil or mineral oil, just like you would for a cutting board.
