Bowls

Tis the gift to be simple, 'tis the gift to be free

It took me a while to come around to lathework.  Though my background is in the humanities, my mind has a strong engineering bent, and I have tended to gravitate toward straight lines and precise angles.  Curves and circles threw me for a loop.  As I’ve gotten older, however, and life has thrown me plenty of curve balls, I’ve come to appreciate more organic shapes.  A circle is richly symbolic, representing infinity and completeness.  And a bowl is one of the richest instantiations of a circle.  What this ancient and universal object can hold is limited only by the imagination.  At one and the same time, bowls can serve utilitarian and practical purposes while also being objects of transcendent beauty and creative expression. 

I cannot and will not mass-produce bowls.  I make them one at a time, and each one seems to follow its own internal logic, turning out in surprising ways.  Within the limits of my talents and available tools and materials, I will happily create custom bowls to your specifications.  Please email edensheartcollective@gmail.com to inquire about a commission.
